Dr Raya Jones

raya jones jung polandImię i Nazwisko: Dr Raya Jones

Research Interests:

My latest work concerns psychological theories of ‘meaning’ with particular attention to a comparison of C. G. Jung’s theory of symbol formation with social constructionist, narrative, and dialogical approaches to self and identity. My involvement with post-Jungian studies includes serving as an advisor to the Journal of Analytical Psychology and as a member of the executive committee of the International Association for Jungian Studies and the co-ordinator of the IAJS web-site www.jungianstudies.org

Earlier and ongoing work concerns the relationship between children's perceptions of school and emotional and behavioural difficulties, and the social construction of the ‘pupil with problems’ in British education.

Kim jest, co robi:

Research Areas:

  • I conduct research in several disciplines and fields of enquiry. These include analytical psychology, literary and cultural studies, continental philosophy, sociology of religion, theology and religious studies.

  • Broadly, I have research interests in the recovery of meaning in a postmodern context, and I explore the emergence of spiritual themes and meaning-making in philosophy, literature, youth experience, educational theory, and the experience of nature and environment.

  • Presently I am researching the experience and conceptualisation of the sacred in analytical or Jungian psychology.

  • From the beginning of my academic career, I have worked as an interdisciplinary scholar, and my first university degree was in philosophy, literary studies, and art history. In my honours degree, I specialised in modernism, existentialism, and surrealism.

  • My PhD thesis at the University of Adelaide was in literary studies and analytical psychology, under the supervision of Professor John Colmer and Professor Brian Elliott.

Imię i Nazwisko: Warren Colman

Kim jest, co robi:

Editor-in-Chief, Journal of Analytical Psychology

Training Analyst, Society of Analytical Psychology

Full Member, Society of Psychoanalytic Couple Psychotherapists

Professional Biography/Interests:

My research interests arise from my clinical practice as a Jungian analyst. I worked for many years as a couples psychotherapist at the Tavistock Centre in London which has a psychoanalytic orientation (Kleinian and British object relations) and I have a long-standing interest in relating Jungian and psychoanalytic ideas and concepts. Many of my earlier papers were on the theme of gender, sexuality, couple relationships, and the clinical application of Jung's concepts of anima and animus. Later, I developed a special interest in the self and more recently I have published several papers on imagination and the symbolic process. Most of these papers are clinically oriented, using clinical material to demonstrate the theoretical argument which in turn is designed to illuminate clinical work. As Editor of the Journal of Analytical Psychology, I am concerned to maintain its traditions of being firmly grounded in clinical practice while encouraging a wide-ranging spread of articles from all sections of the international Jungian community. In the future, I hope to develop two new areas of interest - 1) the link between sociological and psychological processes (culture and psyche) with particular reference to the phenomenon of conspiracy theory and 2) the nature of the therapeutic action of psychoanalytic therapies with particular reference to the role of suggestion and the mobilization of psychoid healing processes that link mind and body.
